For an educational afternoon out, head to Bolton Castle (6 miles), Easby Abbey (8.5 miles) and Kiplin Hall (14 miles). In the mood for some outdoor pursuits? At How Stean Gorge (22 miles) you can try caving, via ferrata and stand-up paddleboarding in a magnificent watery setting.
