Welcome to Montefegatesi—a beautifully situated mountain village 40 kilometers from Lucca. Perched at an elevation of 850 meters, this unique vacation home offers a breathtaking view of the stunning mountain landscape of the Apuan Alps. Here you’ll find the peace and seclusion you need to finally unwind—nestled in a picturesque mountain village where time seems to have stood still. Nevertheless, in this vacation home—furnished with great taste and attention to detail—you won’t have to sacrifice style, comfort, or high-speed internet, making it ideal for remote work.

The house, with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, can accommodate up to five overnight guests. The spacious living room offers a high level of comfort, and the 200-year-old wooden table in the adjoining dining room—a family heirloom—is perfect for long game nights. The terrace, which opens directly from the large kitchen-diner, is the highlight of the house—the view of the mountains is simply breathtaking!

Unfortunately, the building is not child-safe, so guests must be at least eight years old. The property is also not suitable for people with physical disabilities, as only small vehicles can navigate the narrow streets of Montefegatesi, and personal cars must be parked in the lot on the outskirts of town.

Not only those seeking peace and quiet—hikers and mountain bikers will also find plenty to enjoy here. Just a few kilometers away lies the “Orrido di Botri” nature reserve—the gorge of the same name, with its waterfalls, is one of the region’s highlights. A variety of hiking trails with different levels of difficulty start right on site. More challenging mountain hikes are possible in the ski area around Abetone. Bicycles can be stored in the basement of the house.

Culture enthusiasts won’t want to miss day trips to the easily accessible cities of Lucca, Pisa, and Florence. If you prefer, you can park your car in nearby Bagni di Lucca and continue your journey from there by regional train.

There is a small general store in the center of Montefegatesi. Right next door is a bar that hosts “Pizza Night” every Saturday evening. On Sundays, a set menu is offered. Additional restaurants can be found in Orrido di Botri (2.5 km away) and Bagni di Lucca (13 km away), where there are also several supermarkets. Traveling by car is recommended, as Montefegatesi is only sporadically accessible by public transportation.
