The Lion Hotel

Fantastically comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful staff. The hotel itself is great fun - filled with interesting things.

The car park is small, so getting a space is a bit hit and miss, but there is a public car park not far away.

We didn’t realise the hotel was not serving dinner - although they said this would change soon as a new chef was starting. It was very noisy that Saturday night - something to do with the local rugby club I think! But we did have our windows open as it was quite warm. Nice bath but with a shower above with an awful old fashioned plastic curtain which inevitably lead to floods of water on the floor!! We could see the hotel was being refurbished and I think when it’s finished it will be fab! But we had a very comfortable bed and nice bed linen - went for the superior double which had a great view over the river. We would definitely stay here again, it had a nice vibe and the staff were lovely and friendly.
