Auberge Eldo Inn

Great location on the East edge of town and right on the Trans Canada Trail. Big comfortable room and bikes are allowed inside. Awesome for cross country travellers

We’d read some unhappy reviews about the rooms not having this, that, or the other. (What did they expect in a 2* hotel?) So we were pleased to find a brand new fridge, microwave, coffee maker, bed-side lamp, and even extra outlets with both USB-A and USB-C charging ports beside the bed. Even the carpet in the room was spotless, which I believe is really hard to maintain. There was even a drain plug for the bathtub! In short: nice place, and the management clearly reads reviews, and acts on them.

It’s a little bit too far to walk to most of the restaurants in town; Not a problem, we came by car anyway.

Mattresses were so comfortable, we slept incredibly well, all of us. We even took the sheets off to see the brand and model

There is no direct access to Lake Huron although the public beach is less than a mile away across from Tim Hortons. We did see a grill but fire pit hasn’t been used in a while. No bedside lamps but there was a floor lamp and nice charger ports by the bed. Linens are somewhat dated but very clean.

The property was close to Hwy 17

It’s an old motel. Needs an infusion of cash. Bathroom is super small. No USB ports to be found. Carpet is extremely dirty.
