Plas Glynllifon Mansion

What an absolutely extraordinary place to stay! Plas Glynllifon is not simply a B&B, it is an experience and a chance to spend a night inside a fascinating piece of Welsh history. The mansion is enormous, beautiful and full of character. With almost 7,000 m², 102 rooms and centuries of history behind its walls, staying here feels completely different from an ordinary hotel. This Grade I listed mansion has seen the Lords Newborough, an investiture ball connected with the now King Charles III, years of abandonment and now an ambitious restoration. It is important to understand what you are booking. This is NOT a finished luxury hotel, and for us, that's exactly what made it so special. Only part of this sleeping giant has been brought back to life so far, while restoration continues elsewhere. The imperfections are part of the magic. Our room was comfortable, breakfast was included and very good, and considering we paid the price of a casual B&B, the value was incredible. But we didn't come here looking for a cheap room. We came because... when else do you get to sleep inside a mansion like this? The hosts are friendly, welcoming and clearly passionate about the building. The history is unbelievable. The estate was home to the Lords Newborough, 4 millions of trees were planted here, and Glynllifon is home to an internationally important lesser horseshoe bat population. I feel incredibly lucky that we stayed at this particular moment in its history. Perhaps one day this will be a fully restored luxury hotel costing hundreds per night. But we'll remember staying here while this sleeping giant was only beginning to wake up. A genuinely unique North Wales experience. Five stars from us. I sincerely hope the restoration continues, Plas Glynllifon deserves a future!

The Architecture of the building, the original fittings and furniture. The surrounding grounds. The peace and tranquility. Comfortable room and helpful staff. A once on a lifetime to stay at a 18th century mansion for someone interested on Architecture and furnoshings

Minor thing for me Tv and drink making facilities in the room. It would not put me off staying to hopefully see further progress with the important restoration that is requied.
