Looking for a simple, cozy, beginner-friendly camper for your next family adventure? Our 2010 Forest River R-Pod RP-172 is the perfect little travel trailer for families with young-ish kids, first-time RVers, and anyone who wants the fun of camping without the stress of towing a huge trailer. This lightweight, teardrop-style camper is compact, aerodynamic, and easy to tow, making it a great option even if you’re newer to RV camping. With a dry weight of only 2,294 lbs and a family-friendly layout with bunks, a convertible dinette bed, kitchen, bathroom, heat, and AC, it gives you the comforts you need while still feeling simple and manageable. It’s small enough to feel approachable, but thoughtfully designed to make camping comfortable and memorable. Sleeping Arrangements This camper sleeps up to 4 people and is especially great for families with kids. There are two front bunk beds, each approximately 42” x 74”. These are wider than many typical camper bunks and are great for kids, tweens, or even smaller adults. The rear dinette converts into a cozy sleeping area approximately 58” x 74”, similar to a short queen/full-queen RV bed. During the day, it works as your dining/game/card table, and at night it becomes the main bed. Kitchen & Dining The camper includes everything you need for simple camping meals: Working refrigerator (Please note: the refrigerator only works when connected to power) Two-burner propane stove 700-watt microwave Sink Plates, utensils, pots, and pans included Dinette for meals, games, schoolwork, or relaxing Comfort Features This little R-Pod includes many comforts that make a big difference, especially when camping with kids: Air conditioning Furnace/heat Hot water heater Toilet/shower combo bathroom City water connection Fresh water tank Gray and black holding tanks 30 amp shore power hookup GFCI outlets 300W power inverter for charging small electronics There is no awning and no solar. Easy Towing This camper is a great fit for families who are newer to RVing because it’s lightweight and much less intimidating than a large travel trailer. Towing Gear: I can provide a standard 2-inch hitch mount (with a 2" drop or 3" rise configuration), tow ball, and pin at no extra charge. This works perfectly for most mid-size SUVs and standard trucks to keep the trailer level. Approximate specs: Dry weight: 2,294 lbs Cargo capacity: 868 lbs Hitch weight: about 236 lbs Length: about 18' 4" 30 amp electrical hookup Single propane tank Its compact size and aerodynamic teardrop design make it easier to tow, maneuver, and park than many larger campers. It’s a great “starter camper” for families who want to try RV camping without feeling overwhelmed. Renters are responsible for confirming their tow vehicle is properly equipped and rated to tow the trailer. This camper is a great fit for: Families with younger kids First-time RV renters Weekend camping trips State parks and family campgrounds Simple road trips Parents who want something easy, cozy, and manageable If you’re looking for a low-stress way to make sweet family camping memories, this little R-Pod is ready for your next adventure.
