We had a delightful stay at Avenal. From the (literally) warm welcome - with heaters on for our arrival and luxurious duvets for a toasty night's sleep. Great pillows too. The house is very welcoming, as were the owners with great little touches around the house, and a welcome note. The provision of some basics (including eggs from their chickens) was so lovely and started our stay beautifully. All the amenities in the house were spotless, and included a well stocked kitchen of appliances and utensils, crockery etc. everything you could need. The location was great, an easy walk to Queen's Park, the local Woolworths only a skip away, and the owner had provided details of extra local useful amenities. A lovely private front garden also, with a cute veggie patch at the back. Our boys even found a little hedgehog snuffling about. We will definitely be back to stay if we're in Southland again. Thank you!

The overall experience has been amazing. We truly felt welcomed the moment we stepped in to the house, the immaculous lawn, the pre-heated house, the cold beverages, fresh eggs and bread, board games and neatly made beds and even the cot. All these 1% extra touch made our 100% satisfaction. Will definitely come back again.

You just walked in and felt at home. Loved that our host had left milk, bread and farm fresh eggs, it was a lovely welcome, and the heater going for our arrival was perfect. A warm and toasty house, big bedrooms, comfortable lounge and a kitchen that had everything you needed. You couldn't ask for more, thank you Janelle and Hamish.
