The old parsonage bed and breakfast

The house was charming and well-kept, the breakfast was surprisingly good with tons of options! The host was very helpful and friendly.

One night we had to park up the street because there were no spots left. Our room faced the street and traffic noise was a bit loud with the windows cracked, but there was very little traffic after 10pm.

Breakfast was generous and delicious. The owner was very prompt to answer any questions. Bed very comfortable and slept well despite being on a busy road.

All went well. Bathroom needs an update perhaps but a minor observation.

Everything was great, and it had the best breakfast I’ve ever had

The location was superb and the breakfast was outstanding. Breakfast was incredibly generous and included an egg soufflé, French toast, bacon, sausage, fruit, coffee cake, orange juice, coffee and tea. It was delicious and definitely lived up to the excellent breakfast reviews. We also appreciated the history and character of the home and its convenient location in Kennebunkport.

While we completely understand that this is a historic home from the 1800s and that some uneven floors, walls and ceilings are to be expected, the degree of unevenness in our room went beyond what we anticipated and was somewhat concerning. The flooring noticeably sloped and was uneven in several areas, particularly around the heavy bathtub and bed, and the ceiling was visibly uneven as well. Even the toilet sat at a noticeable angle, leaning toward the tub rather than sitting level. We can’t speak to whether any of this is structural, but it felt more significant than the normal quirks and character we would expect from an older property. Beyond that, much of the living room and bedroom furniture, carpeting and bathroom fixtures felt worn and dated rather than thoughtfully historic. We understand that maintaining a property of this age requires significant ongoing work, but as an actively operated and very well-reviewed guest house, we expected the accommodations to show a greater level of ongoing maintenance and updating. Instead, many aspects of the property felt as though they had not been refreshed in quite some time. There was no television in the bedroom, and the toiletries provided were partially used grocery-store travel-size bottles of shampoo and lotion, with no soap provided. Individually, some of these are small details, but together they contributed to our disappointment, and the accommodations did not meet our expectations based on the exceptionally high reviews.
