Location
The Adriatic island of Losinj is largely unspoiled by development but, there are plenty of adventures to be had. Mali Losinj dates from the 12th Century, and is famous for its large harbour. The town is blessed with some beautiful Renaissance buildings, churches and monasteries. The Museum of Apoxyomenos is dedicated to an ancient Greek statue which is almost completely intact. The Aromatic Garden is not only a fragrant retreat but also serves delicious local food.

For self-catering, in addition to supermarkets, there is a small daily market in Mali Losinj and an excellent fish market where you can purchase the freshest fish to cook at home.

There are several water-sports schools on the island where visitors can learn to sail, windsurf or surf, and the pristine sea means that there is excellent visibility for snorkelling and scuba diving. Away from the water, you can parachute, rock climb and take a cycle tour through unspoiled countryside.

Rijeka Airport is the nearest airport, reached via a ferry (2 hours 10 minutes) or Pula Airport (3 hours 5 minutes), via a longer ferry journey.
