Loweswater, Crummockwater and Buttermere are all within 12 miles, and Whinlatter Forest Park – where there’s an aerial assault course and adventure-playground trail – is 9 miles away. Maryport, a pretty harbour town at the southern end of the Solway Coast National Landscape, can be reached within 7 miles.

Step into the lounge/kitchen/diner to be greeted by rugged beams, exposed stone and a huge, inglenook fireplace with a carved surround. This is home to a multi-fuel burner and surrounded by soft seating, making this a wonderful space in which to gather after a day in the fresh air. The kitchen area lies opposite, featuring an electric range-style cooker as well as an island unit against which sits the generous dining table. On the far wall, three steps lead down to the snug, where there’s comfortable seating and lovely views of the garden through a pair of French doors. From the living space you can also access the downstairs shower room and the utility (both with steps down). Head up the cottage-style stairs and you’ll reach the cosy family room, which has books, toys and a Smart TV – perfect for setting up cartoons, a family movie or a favourite box set. Continuing up the stairs will take you to the first-floor shower room, and then the two restful and beautifully styled bedrooms, a king-size and a super-king which boasts zip-and-link beds for versatility.

The delightful courtyard garden, accessed from the snug, is surrounded by pretty planting and includes seating, ready for peaceful moments in the sunshine or under the stars. Parking is on-street, outside the property or around the village.
