Ambleside sits at the northern tip of Windermere, with steam cruisers offering boat trips down to Lakeside (12.5 miles). Grasmere (5 miles) and Rydal Water (2.5 miles) are to the north, with other local destinations including Rydal Cave, Rydal Hall Gardens, Stock Ghyll Force and Stagshaw Gardens, all within 3 miles.
