The Neighborhood:

Located in the heart of historic Downtown Knoxville, The Emporium puts you steps from the Old City, Gay Street, local dining and entertainment—with the added charm of an art gallery located right inside the building, showcasing Knoxville’s creative spirit just outside your door.



Getting Around:

One of the best parts of staying at The Emporium is how little you’ll need your car once you arrive. Step outside and you’re already on historic Gay Street, with the Old City, Market Square, restaurants, coffee shops, nightlife, shopping, galleries and entertainment all within an easy walk.



The Old City begins just around the corner along Jackson Avenue, while a stroll down Gay Street leads you toward Market Square, the Tennessee Theatre, Bijou Theatre and the heart of downtown. Downtown Knoxville covers less than one square mile, making walking one of the easiest—and most enjoyable—ways to explore.



If you’d rather ride, Knoxville’s free downtown trolley serves Gay Street, Market Square and the Old City, with additional service toward the University of Tennessee campus. Bikes and electric scooters are also available throughout downtown.



For destinations outside downtown, rideshare services are convenient from the building. Guests heading to the University of Tennessee, Neyland Stadium, Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center, or other Knoxville attractions can easily walk, trolley, drive or use rideshare depending on the destination.

A fun Gay Street stop for creative tacos, street corn, tequila and cocktails. It’s an easy walk from the loft and a great choice when you want something casual with a lively downtown atmosphere. Visit Knoxville also includes Chivo among its featured Gay Street dining spots.



Drinks with a View — Five Thirty Lounge

Head to the rooftop of the historic Hyatt Place for cocktails and views across downtown and toward the Smoky Mountains. This would be my “date night / sunset” recommendation in the guide.



Breakfast or Brunch — The French Market Creperie Downtown

A cozy downtown breakfast stop for sweet and savory crêpes, coffee and brunch. It gives guests something different from a standard breakfast restaurant.



Southern Flavor — The Humble Hog Craft Barbecue

Right on Gay Street for smoked meats, Southern sides and a relaxed meal. Visit Knoxville specifically highlights it while guiding visitors down Gay Street.



Dinner + Downtown Atmosphere — The Kennedy

A more polished option on Gay Street with chef-driven American dishes, cocktails and a 1920s-inspired interior.



But a personal favorite, a short drive to Kern's Bakery - Let the entire family choose their own meal and enjoy the community atmosphere of this historic building - turned FOOD MALL - YUM!
