Old English cottage character gives this converted hay barrack a distinctive, intimate atmosphere. Exposed timber beams frame the living room, where period-style furniture, shuttered windows and a chandelier create a setting with a strong sense of tradition. Upstairs, the authentic bedroom suite includes its own bathtub and washbasin, while a movable wall allows the sleeping area in the living room to connect with the bedroom when desired. Children are welcome to visit the owner’s horses, adding a gentle rural dimension to the stay. Volkel lies beside the varied landscapes of the Peel, with cycling and hiking routes close by and Voskuilenheuvel inviting peaceful walks. Families can spend a day at BillyBird Hemelrijk and its recreational lake, while Nuenen offers a fascinating connection with Vincent van Gogh through the Vincentre museum, Van Gogh church and places associated with the artist’s life.
