Dreaming Bear Cabin sleeps fourteen, and the setup works in everyone's favor. There are five bedrooms and each one has its own full bathroom, so nobody has to sort out who shares with whom. Bags go into rooms, and the group heads out to the deck.
The main floor is one open room. The kitchen, dining table, and sofas all sit together, so whoever is cooking stays part of the conversation and the people on the couch can watch the mountains through the windows. The table seats ten for sit-down dinners, and the counter and living room take the overflow when the full crew is in. A washer and dryer handle the muddy boots and damp swimsuits that pile up by midweek, and a half bath off the living area keeps foot traffic out of the bedroom hallways.
Four of the bedrooms have king beds and the fifth has a queen. All five have private ensuite baths, and four of those include a soaking tub as well as a shower. Couples get their own sink and their own door. Two queen sleeper sofas cover the kids, the cousins, or the friend who signed on at the last minute.
The game room is where evenings run late. There's a full pool table and a separate card table, with enough space around both for people to watch and heckle. Expect a bracket to go up on the first night. Out on the deck, the hot tub looks across the ridgelines and down over the golf course greens, which gives the quieter half of the group somewhere to go while the pool tournament gets loud. The cabin sits well away from the lights of the Parkway, so clear nights are worth staying up for, and in late October the hills around you turn gold and rust.
This is the quieter, wooded side of Gatlinburg near Bent Creek, a short drive from the Greenbrier entrance to Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Greenbrier sees far fewer cars than the main entrances and has river trails, swimming spots along the Little Pigeon River, and some of the best spring wildflowers in the park. The Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community sits between here and town, with potters, woodworkers, and leather shops spread along an eight-mile loop. Downtown Gatlinburg is an easy drive for the SkyBridge, SkyLift Park, Anakeesta, and Ober Mountain, and Pigeon Forge and Dollywood make a good day out. At the end of it you drive back up, the noise drops off, and the hot tub is waiting.
Bring everyone. There's room for all of them and a bathroom attached to every bedroom.
