New Wing - The Mong Village Resort

The views were probably our favorite part. Our balcony looked straight out over the rice terraces, and we happened to be there during harvest season, which made it even more beautiful. The heated infinity pool was also amazing, especially with the rain and the mist coming through the mountains. The property itself has a lot of character. I really liked the mustard and green walls, dark wood, stained-glass lamps, and the stone soaking tub. We also tried the traditional herbal bath, which was perfect after a cold, rainy day. The staff were genuinely kind and helpful. They responded quickly whenever we needed anything, and the receptionist spoke excellent English, which made everything very easy.

Honestly, the only thing I didn’t like was that we only booked one night.

Amazing stay! Had a wonderful time at Mong Village Resort and Spa. Stunning rice paddy field views, cozy room ambience, and truly amazing staff. The heated infinity pools were a definite highlight, and the food was great too. Everyone there made our stay memorable. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature!

This hotel is undoubtedly very pretty. The pools, the views, the flowers, everything is nothing short of amazing and stunning on first glance! We chose to stay here specifically because we wanted to be away from the main town of Sapa, and we were hoping for exceptional views of the surrounding rice fields, hopefully, without cloud. We absolutely struck gold! The views were simply incredible. Wow! The pools were heated, albeit only slightly, which was a nice touch and made them enjoyable. A little warmer could be better. Breakfast was okay. The omelettes were good. Most of the staff I encountered were friendly and helpful, and there were some genuinely lovely members of the team. There were, however, a few members of staff who appeared quite grumpy and seemed to ignore me, even when I made an effort to say hello. Thankfully, this was only a minor part of the overall experience. But let me finish on the best part again, those views! They were absolutely breathtaking and were the main reason we chose this hotel. We were not disappointed. If you're looking for somewhere beautiful and surrounded by incredible scenery, the view does not disappoint. Of note, the whole area is like construction zone (not the hotel, the whole of Sapa mountains). Unfortunately, by the end of our stay, I felt there was more that I didn’t like about this property than I did. Firstly, there are a lot of steep stairs, which became frustrating when you had to go back to your room for something you had forgotten. I would definitely suggest that older guests or anyone with limited mobility consider this before booking. When we arrived late at night, we were greeted by a lovely lady and check-in was quick and easy, although I found the reception area very strange and underwhelming. It looked like a, strange, makeshift room that had been thrown together and was not in keeping with the rest of the hotel. On 1st impression of this I started to panic a little at what I had booked!

The biggest issue for us was the overall noise and un finished look on closer inspection. On our first night, we discovered a ramen noodle cup with what appeared to be a mouse-chewed hole, and the mouse continued waking us throughout the night. We asked for a mousetrap, were told one had been placed, but it hadn’t, and had to ask again. There also appeared to be several gaps and potential entry points. For a hotel advertised as five-star and newly renovated, I felt there were too many unfinished details, including holes in the walls, exposed electrical wires and areas needing maintenance. The room had a very small bathroom, and a useless accordion style door, literally useless, despite having plenty of space to make it larger. The bath looked lovely but offered no privacy, given it was family room! The soundproofing was very poor. Unfortunately, sleep was a major issue throughout our stay. Between the mouse at night, neighbouring dogs, ducks, roosters and chickens starting around 4–5am, followed by traffic on the below road, and constant beeping, we were rarely able to sleep past 5am. We left feeling exhausted. The positives are the spectacular views, beautiful pools and stunning overall setting. However, once you look beyond the initial beauty, the maintenance, finishing and comfort did not feel five-star to me. Toilet seat hanging off, loo roll holder hanging off, exposed wires hanging from walls. With the amount we paid, I would not stay here again. The location and views are incredible, but the lack of sleep, noise issue and unfinished details outweighed the positives for us given the cost compared to local home stays.
