Perched above the Umbrian valley, near Spoleto, Italy, I Cerri is a fourteenth-century watchtower where history, nature and Italian humanism come together in an intimate experience of living heritage. For more than seven centuries, I Cerri has watched over the Umbrian landscape. Originally built as a watchtower belonging to the Castle of Poreta, this ancient residence stood as a guardian of the valley, observing the movement of travellers, the changing seasons and the passage of history. Today, recognised as a National Monument, I Cerri opens its doors to a small number of guests who seek something beyond ordinary hospitality: the rare privilege of experiencing an authentic place from within. From its privileged position above the valley, I Cerri offers a unique view that extends across the Umbrian countryside towards Tuscany. The private park surrounding the tower, with its ancient oak trees, creates a peaceful setting where nature and history exist together. Below the property lies the Via Francigena, one of Europe’s historic pilgrimage routes, connecting travellers across centuries. The infinity pool and private garden offer an extraordinary perspective on the surrounding countryside. Suspended between sky and valley, the pool becomes a place of contemplation rather than simply relaxation. I Cerri is also a place of culture. Its custodians bring to the experience a lifelong connection with Italian theatre, literature and humanistic tradition, creating opportunities for intimate cultural evenings within the historic setting of the tower. Inspired by the worlds of Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca and Italian humanism, these encounters are not formal lectures, but conversations: moments of sharing, reflection and discovery. A tradition of Italian hospitality has always been built around the table, the fireplace and the exchange of ideas.
