We always recommend purchasing trip cancellation insurance. Reservations are refundable (less a $175 administrative fee) up until 30 days before travel. Within 30 days of travel, the reservation becomes 100% nonrefundable. For multi-month stays, no administrative fees apply for changes, provided 30 days' written notice of departure is given.
