Location, amenities and security was great. The communication with the owner was excellent, air conditioning was very welcome, and it was very peaceful and quiet at night

What didn't I like? As I said, the owner was nice and accommodating, but the condo itself although it was clean, left quite a lot to be desired. There was black mould in the bathroom, cockroaches in the kitchen area, luckily not the big American variety, but not really what you want to see, the kitchen cupboards were dirty and warped, the twin burner hob was filthy and covered in burned oil, the fridge worked perfectly but was covered in very badly applied silver fablon, as was the bedroom/lounge divider. Most of the furniture looked as though it had been pulled from a skip and hastily repurposed. The only place that there was hot water was the shower, and that meant boiling a kettle for a shave or to wash dishes. The corridors and lifts were not air conditioned and were oppressively hot and reception was only marginally better. The other last thing that I didn't like was that although I paid for our stay in full before I left the UK, the owner charged me another 3,000 pesos for electricity and 1,000 pesos security deposit which was returned when I left, and reception kept hold of my fiancé's ID card until we checked out. We agreed to this, even though it goes against booking.com's code of practice because I was hot and tired and jet-lagged.and I need to shower and sleep. So on the whole I would give it a 5 out of 10 with room for improvement based on the owner being cool and the location alone. Had it been anywhere else? I'm not so sure.
