Welcome to our cosy cottage in peaceful Kulhuse – just a 9-minute walk from the water and a quiet sandy beach. Only around an hour from Copenhagen, it feels a world away from city life. Here, life moves at a gentler pace – morning walks to the beach in the fresh coastal air, sunset strolls by the fjord, and cosy evenings around the wood-burning fireplace. It's Danish hygge at its simplest – with nature on your doorstep, peaceful and relaxed – best enjoyed together and lovely in every season. Whether you're coming for a weekend escape or looking for a peaceful place to stay for a few weeks, the summer house is designed to feel like a home away from home. With fast internet, a heat pump, wood-burning fireplace and everything you need for everyday living, it's well suited to comfortable longer stays, whatever the season.

🏡 The house

Bright and welcoming, the 80+ m² cottage combines natural wood throughout, high ceilings and plenty of daylight to create a relaxed and cosy atmosphere. It features an open-plan kitchen and living area with a wood-burning fireplace for cooler evenings, an energy-efficient heat pump, two bedrooms, a bathroom with shower, washing machine and fast internet.

The kitchen is equipped for everyday cooking, with a full-size fridge and freezer, and there's a small dedicated workspace for those who would like to work remotely during their stay.

It's a place made for relaxed days, time outdoors and cosy evenings together – sharing meals around the table, cycling by the coast, curling up by the fire after a walk by the fjord, or working quietly with a cup of coffee. We hope you'll quickly settle into the slower pace of life here and feel completely at home.

Sleeping arrangements
Bedroom 1 has a double bed (160 × 200 cm) and a children's bunk bed (90 × 160 cm).
Bedroom 2 has a pull-out bed (150 × 195 cm).
There is also a sofa bed (160 × 200 cm) in the living area, and a travel cot is available for families travelling with a little one.

🌳 Garden & outdoor living

Outside you'll find a large, private 1,200 m² garden with plenty of space to relax and play. Children can enjoy the trampoline, swings and football goal, while adults can unwind on the terrace or simply enjoy the peace and nature around the house. You're also welcome to use our four bicycles and fishing rods to explore the local area.

Four-legged guests are very welcome too 🐾 With forest and coastal walks nearby, there's plenty to explore together. Please note that the garden is spacious but not fenced.

The garden is home to fruit trees and grapevines, and when in season, you're very welcome to help yourself 🍇🍎

🌊 Beach

A peaceful sandy beach is just a short walk away. The water remains shallow for a long distance, making it ideal for families with young children during the warmer months, while the tranquil surroundings and beautiful sunsets make it just as appealing for couples looking to unwind.

Outside the summer season, the beach becomes wonderfully quiet – perfect for peaceful morning walks, fresh coastal air and watching the changing light over the fjord.

🚲 Explore the local area & surroundings

Kulhuse is surrounded by forests, beaches and fjords, offering the perfect setting for outdoor adventures and peaceful escapes. Wander through Nordskoven among its ancient oak trees – centuries-old, twisted giants – and see if you can spot the famous three: Kongeegen, Snoegen and Storkeegen. They give the forest an almost fairytale-like atmosphere.

Visit historic Jægerspris Castle and explore its former royal grounds, discover the local area by bike, or when the ferry is running, catch the Columbus ferry to Hundested for lunch.

From Hundested, you can continue along the coastal route towards Helsingør and then follow the scenic Strandvejen, passing charming harbour towns, cafés and stunning sea views. It's one of our favourite day trips from Kulhuse.

🛒 Nearby

The local Brugsen is just 1.7 km away, where you can pick up everyday essentials and freshly caught fish. Larger supermarkets, including SuperBrugsen and Netto, are located in Jægerspris, just 10 minutes away, while Frederikssund – with its cafés, restaurants and shops – is only a short drive away.

For longer stays, you'll have the peace of a countryside retreat without being far from everyday essentials. Frederikssund also has train connections to Copenhagen. Other details to note The summer house has toys, games and outdoor activities for children and teenagers. There's a small separate playhouse in the garden for younger children.
