Rare lake views, mid-century A-frame charm, and a dog at your feet — this is the cabin reset you've been looking for. Water quiets the mind. This is one of the few cabins in Lake Mont Pines where you'll actually feel it. Wake up to coffee, step out to a private deck, and stroll downhill to the water. Ski Bear Valley, wander Big Trees, sip wine in Murphys. Groceries close. Adventure and stillness, perfectly balanced.

Arnold is the Bay Area's best-kept mountain secret — just 2.15 hours from Walnut Creek, 3 from SF, and 3.15 from Marin, with none of the gridlock. Tucked between South Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, Arnold has all the mountain magic with a small-town ease that's hard to find anymore.

Arnold Cabin sits in Lake Mont Pines, a private subdivision where guests enjoy exclusive access to Tanner Lake — not available to the general public (lake and parking passes provided). Kayak, paddleboard, fish, or simply sit at the water's edge. In summer, the lake comes alive with a snack bar, equipment rentals, lifeguards, volleyball, and daily activities. Come fall, the crowds thin, the water warms, and the lake is at its most magical. Winter brings snow — and Bear Valley is just up the road.

The open-concept main level has the lake views, the deck, the kitchen, and two bedrooms — all on one floor with minimal steps, making it easy for guests of all ages and mobility levels. Upstairs, the loft is a wonderland: foosball, Nintendo Switch, games, books, a TV lounge, and sleeping for four.

A note on the loft: The loft is reached by 12 steeper-than-average stairs with a handrail. Little ones should be monitored on the stairs at all times — we recommend bringing a baby gate for toddlers. Once up there it's a wonderland, but please keep an eye on young children throughout their stay.

The lot is a gentle downslope with room to throw a football, relax in the hammock, or gather around the deck for s'mores and grilling (amenities are seasonal). The driveway is narrow, and you might prefer backing down it once you get the hang of things.
