Our Scandinavian-inspired lake house in Valparaiso, Indiana is yours top to bottom: all three levels, for one group of up to 14. Indiana Dunes National Park is 18 to 20 minutes straight down US-49, and downtown Valparaiso is 10 minutes away. It is made for family reunions, Thanksgiving and multi-family getaways.

SLEEPING (14 guests)
- Primary suite: king canopy bed, seating nook, and a bath with walk-in rain shower, jetted tub and double vanity
- Bedroom 2: king bed, desk and smart TV, with its own full bath
- Kids` room: two sets of twin bunks (sleeps 4), a play table and teepee, with its own full bath
- Lower level: king bedroom, queen sofa bed and a full bath
- Main-level living room: queen sofa bed
- Extra linens are stocked

MAIN LEVEL
A wall of windows facing Long Lake, a sectional built for movie night, Roku smart TV, record player and games. Open kitchen with gas range, dishwasher, Nespresso and drip coffee, a dining table that seats 12, plus island seating. Half bath.

UPPER LEVEL
Three bedrooms, each with its own full bath. Library nook on the landing with leather wingback chairs, books, puzzles and chess. Washer and dryer.

LOWER LEVEL (walkout)
Great room with a stone fireplace, a second full kitchen, a lounge with a `Greetings from Valparaiso` mural and sectional, dining nook, a workspace with monitor and keyboard, and a second washer and dryer. It has its own door to the yard, so two families can share the house and still have a door to close.

OUTSIDE
Hot tub under string lights, garden dome lounge for six, fire pit with Adirondack chairs (first firewood bundle and s`mores kit on us), Weber propane grill, and cornhole on the lawn. The upper deck off the kitchen has a fire table and lake views.

GOOD TO KNOW
- Lake access: there is no dock with this house and no easy path from the yard. Long Lake`s public boat launch and swimming spot is a half-mile down the street. The dock you will see at the shoreline belongs to a neighbor.
- Long Lake is a 10 mph no-wake lake: quiet, great for paddling and birds.
- Chicago is about an hour by car, or take the South Shore train.
- Parking for 4 cars maximum. Please carpool where you can.
- A Pack n Play is available. There is no high chair yet.
- Two exterior security cameras: one at the front door, one covering the side parking area and street. None indoors.
- Quiet hours outdoors are 10 PM to 8 AM. No parties or events, no pets, no smoking. The primary guest must be 25 or older.
- Winter: the driveway and walk are cleared, but the hill can be icy, so bring boots.
- We live abroad and run the house with a trusted local team, and family lives a few doors down.
- The lower level is sometimes listed separately. When you book the whole house it is blocked, so no other guests are on the property.

Important House Rules
Primary guest must be 25 or older. Maximum 14 guests and 4 vehicles (2 beside the house, 2 in front of the garage). No parties or events; violation results in immediate cancellation without refund.
Quiet hours outdoors (hot tub, fire pit, dome) are 10 PM to 8 AM out of respect for lake neighbors.
Supervise children at all times; the yard slopes to the lake and the hot tub is unfenced.
The property runs down through the marsh to the lake edge, but it is steep and wet; the comfortable lake access is the public boat launch a half-mile down the street. The dock at the shoreline belongs to a neighbor and is not available to guests.
Plumbing: the house is on an ejector pump system. Flush only toilet paper. A fee applies for clogs caused by wipes, feminine products or other items.
No smoking or vaping anywhere on the property. No pets.
This is a no-shoes house indoors. A $10 fee per carpet or rug stain.
The garage and one supply closet per floor are locked and not part of the rental.
Check-in after 4 PM; check-out by 10 AM. Self check-in with smart lock; the code is valid only for your stay.
No packages may be mailed to the house.

Fees
Late checkout without consent: $75. Excess guests: $50 per guest. Smoking in the home: $150. Excessive cleaning: $150. Lost keys: $50. Missing towels: $10 each. Security deposit: a refundable $375 hold is placed on the day of checkout. If no damage or stolen items are reported, it is released back to you in full.
