Public transport: Stony Brook area is served by the Long Island Rail Road (Stony Brook or Port Jefferson Station on the Port Jefferson Branch) for trips toward Patchogue/Huntington and New York City. Local Suffolk County Transit buses run along major corridors (e.g., Route 347/25). Rideshares and taxis operate but can be slower to arrive than in NYC.
