Arranged over two levels on a sunny hillside in Gorski Kotar, Croatia’s forested mountain region, this three-bedroom house is a lovely base for a group of friends, just minutes from the village and within easy reach of canyons, lakes and Risnjak National Park. The pool room is glazed on three sides, so the mountains stay in view from the water, with deckchairs alongside and a timber sauna cabin and walk-in shower a few steps away.

Upstairs, the open-plan living room rises to a glazed gable end, where a corner sofa and a wood-burning stove face the view and a long dining table with upholstered chairs sits beneath pendant lamps. The kitchen has a hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge and a bean-to-cup coffee machine. Outside, a covered balcony with two hanging egg chairs leads off the living room, while the panoramic terrace below has a corner sofa and sun loungers, a private barbecue for grilling, and a fire bowl and garden skittles beneath the timber pergola.

Air conditioning runs through the living room and all three bedrooms, free Wi-Fi and a laptop-friendly workspace keep you connected, and a private parking space is yours for the stay.
