Our stay in this all season, three centuries of European settlement, was one of the highlights of our wonderful 3 week road trip through Ontario and Quebec. The Pleasant was recommended by our dear friends who live in this wonderful historic town. From check in to check out, everything this charming Victorian BnB offers—a beautiful decor, a cafe with seating inside or out, a beautiful garden, comfortable bed, local bath products, caring hosts—-exceeded “ pleasant”. Our lovely large bedroom was beautifully appointed with a large comfortable bed and bedding; its decor and bathroom have been updated to reflect its Victorian past and modern comfort. Steps away is main street. accessible by walking through a darling park ( cannons were unloaded I’m told) to the main street of town. There we found a fabulous bakery and cafe, restaurants, bars, some offering live music, only steps away, for a longer stay. The town is surrounded by trees, flourishing gardens, mountains in the background. Having thoroughly enjoyed being with our friends, we hugged good-bye to return to our affable BnB host / barista, who greeted us by name! (we’d never met!) and also handled the speedy check out. We had so enjoyed our conversation with the young woman host checking us in on our arrival the previous day, and our new host added to our regret of leaving. The Pleasant had so much more to offer than our short stay allowed us to enjoy—-the gardens and its espresso cafe and bar, the wrap around porch—- This place exceeds its promise. We can’t recommend it enough for those seeking modest elegant comfort and much needed tranquility. And beauty … with proximity to town…
Just plan for a longer stay! We will surely return to this town and The Pleasant!

The hotel is beautiful and so central to everything. A lovely place to come back to after a day of activities.

The bedroom was comfortable, the bathroom was clean and large, the host was courteous and informative.
The bed was a little too soft. Everything else was great.
