The Dancing Bear Hostel was very cool. I only stayed for a night, and I got in, but I wish I had had time to enjoy the common spaces, and would definitely stay here if I were here in Nelson again!

Great location on baker street. Easy to fine, super friendly staff, love the no shoes rule make the place stay cleaner.

only down side was the bathroom sink needed a bit of a touch up, as there was hair over the sink throughout the day, but overall still one of the cleanest places I’ve ever stayed.

Location was amazing, everything you want within 500m and a shuttle up to whitewater goes from outside the door. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The kitchen has a lot of utensils for cooking and was kept really clean and tidy. Upstairs the lounge area is so comfortable to hang out with other guests in, or even to chill alone. Great storage facilities for my gear and for drying out my wet snow stuff.

Great location, walking distance to shops and the water/park. The bed was super comfortable and warm. The room was clean too and had natural light from the window which was nice. The bathrooms & shower were clean too.

The comfort, easy going nature, the people coming in and out, handiness of staying there when in Nelson, heat of the room, the manager Cindy was fantastic with everything and so was Kelly who worked there for anything I needed during my stay - made to feel very comfortable staying especially for the first time in a hostel. Would recommend to anyone to stay there and have done so since I left

Very few things I didn't like about it. Floors a little cold probably bring slippers - That's about it

The location was great, helpfull staff and cleanliness, great bang for your buck and the room was spacious and very practical with a sink and mirror inside, the only thing we wish it had was heat controls, as it was quite cold at night

A superb hostel, but some of the people staying there for an extended time period had formed themselves into a political, social, cultural presence and into a very powerful "clique" within the guest facilities of the hostel and they started questioning me assertively as soon as I entered the dorms and the kitchen while pretending to be "friendly" as to whether I fit into their political, social, cultural, psychological and philosophical ideology; and if I did not, or if I could not, as I was extremely tired / stressed physically and mentally from many days of long driving, these people let me know they dis-approved of my presence in "their" hostel through obtuse "bad language" to my face or mocking rants as soon as I had left the area, in the case of the kitchen I was only there long enough to fill a water bottle, but I was assailed verbally as soon as I entered it, and had to think quick to defend myself from their "supposedly friendly" verbally-expressed ideological assaults. The town of Nelson is well-known as a magnet for the hard-core Left-Wing since the "Hippy" days of the late 1960's, but I was just there on a 12 hour stay to sleep, shower, and relax.
