The Iona Heights Inn

I liked that it was right next to the Highland Village. The staff was very attentive in fixing a heating issue.

Wasn't real clean. It looked clean on the surface, but not deep down. I dropped something down beside the bed, yuck.

The motel has lovely views over the lake and is very close to the highland village.

Good size room with an excellent breakfast. Best part was the inn downstairs which had a great atmosphere.

Beautiful location and outstanding view of the Bra’D’or Lakes and 4 counties of Cape Breton! Very close to the Highland Village The on site pub was very good and served great food both for dinner and breakfast. The staff in the pub were lovely and attentive.

The room which we were given was not anything like the one I understood that we had booked, which was very disappointing. We intentionally arrived well ahead of check in to get a better room but were given a room in the older section it seems. The rooms in particular are badly in need of considerable improvements and maintainance, especially the bathrooms. There was a little basket with extra facecloths in it and they were unfolded and stained, as were the towels (stained and thin) What was particularly shocking is that the beds were on a metal frame, like collapsible cots and of course that meant that we had a rather uncomfortable night and not great sleep. Really really disappointing. I thought the person who checked us in (not sure if he was the owner or manager or?) was civil but not especially friendly. There was no place to get even a light nutritious snack, other than a store with one piece of pizza left. We had travelled 3 hours and had no lunch, the pub did not open for another hour or more.
