Loved the location. So much night life you didn’t need to drive once you parked. Great Italian restaurant 1/2 block away.
Rooms could use a little update, but they were very clean and the pillows had a good variety.

I really liked the convenient location. I grew up in Dubuque. As a child, I imagined what it would be like to stay in such a grand hotel. This was a bucket list item; my 50th class reunion was the perfect opportunity to fulfill that dream. It was charming. The bedding was nice. And the bathroom was updated nicely. ... just needed better lightning.
Lightning in the room and bathroom was not great. It's an old building so there were few outlets. I don't think there's wifi, and if there is, it was not obvious to me and no one told it was available or how to access. We asked for the body shampoo to be refilled when they brought fresh towels; that didn't happen. The TV picture was strangely wide and distorted. I'm sure it waa a setting but I didn't feel like experimenting.

The location is good for reaching restaurants and accessing freeways
The hotel is outdated and in need of an upgrade. Windows are old and were rattling from trains passing by. Air conditioner was not cool at all and made sleeping tough. Beds not comfortable. No closet space.
