Alexander's Lodge

This was the most unique and cute place we have stayed. Very clean and they had our breakfast all put together for us. Bed super comfortable and rooms well equipped with everything one needs. Lots of coffee We loved our stay. Very close to the entrance to park. One mile.

Remote little town so no nearby places to eat that we noticed coming in. We may not have explored enough.

This was a unique place to stay that was also very close to Mt Rainer. We had a room on the first floor so there were no stairs to climb. The room was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. The packaged breakfast was a nice touch and very convenient if you are leaving early. It was simple but enough. The property grounds are beautiful!! So serene and magical. There is a fish pond and they sell food to feed the fish. There are also yurts in the forest. The employees were so pleasant and friendly.

Location and staff

My bathroom was across the hall and it wound up being more of an issue than I thought it would. I tried extra hard to make no noise that would disturb other rooms and it cost me sleep.

We stayed at Alexander Lodge for 4 nights and left with mixed feelings. The location is pleasant, but the property's marketing oversells its "remote" setting — there's actually a community of homes nearby, and it's a fairly short drive to Tacoma. If seclusion is what you're after, temper your expectations. The bigger issues were with upkeep and service. The carpets throughout our room were visibly dirty and clearly hadn't been replaced or deep-cleaned in a long time. The air conditioning unit was cranky and unreliable, cycling inconsistently throughout our stay. For a property charging upwards of $300/night — rates comparable to five-star hotels — we expected a level of maintenance and polish that just wasn't there. Housekeeping was also disappointing. Over 4 nights, the only service we received was towel replacement and trash removal — no bed making, no actual room cleaning. At this price point, that's a significant shortfall. The lodge has real potential, but it needs the owners to reinvest in basic renovations (new carpets, updated HVAC) and hold housekeeping to a higher standard. Right now, the experience doesn't match the price tag.
