Very easy to find and close to train and bus station.

Even though my booking receipt clearly stated all fees and charges paid, they insisted on taking city tax. Rooms are very small I was by myself so that was ok, but it would be very cramped with 2 people. Bathroom was clean and good except toilet seat lid didn’t open fully as hand basin was in the way.

Second booking with Toyo Hotel, I quite like that this time the USB plugs worked correctly in the single room, and it was nice to be able to use a smart tv instead of a normal one. Could use YouTube as guest, although all other services were unavailable and/or required your own account (possibly Netflix could be good but the Japanese services wouldn’t be usable for a foreign tourist). Location was as always really good, very close to Hakata and other amenities.

I had requested to avoid a smoking room if possible and the girl at the reception confirmed it was non-smoking, but there were yellowish stains on the floor and on the ceiling, and it did look like an ex-smoking room. The smell permeated, which sometimes was a bit bothersome and made me keep the window open for a long time in the evening. The bedroom frame was a bit more bothersome due to the wood protruding forward above the head, it made it really uncomfortable to lie down to watch tv; this issue wasn’t there in the double room’s bed. The same problem of the first booking, the smoking area close to the laundry area outside, also continued, as I needed to wash more often. I think with a fan or something to avoid the smoke going in the wrong direction the issue could be helped.

No early check in. There's a queue to get your room keys for the 2 pm check in time. Washing machine is at the back of the hotel that is not maintained for cleanliness at all. It looks like it is open for public use. The bed looks really old and not so comfortable at all. Security. Any one can easily just use the lift. No need to tap your key card :( They tried to help us book a taxi for 6 am but when we arrive at the reception, it was empty so we have no idea how to recognize the taxi that was booked for us. A taxi had stopped for us outside the hotel, so we thought it was the one .. but no it wasn't. We suggest to just hail a taxi outside the hotel, easy for everyone or they could have just told us to do this in the first place.
