This is the original private home in Ferndale, built by one of the founders from 1854-66. The house is full of antique furniture and rugs, with high ceilings, and many authentic touches. We were met by one of the owners who was nice as could be. Breakfast was included and was amazing! The cook lives on a nearby farm and most of the food was from there - eggs, honey, bacon and veggies. We had fresh fruit, yogurt parfaits, blueberry bread pudding (yum!) and delicious quiche over our two mornings. A really nice relaxing two days in Ferndale. If you go, do t miss the Ferndale History Museum. So much interesting stuff.
Nothing really. There were the quirks you’d expect from a 250 year old house

Wonderful property on Main Street. Easy walk to everything. Attentive, friendly staff!
Nothing.

Of course the house is over 150 years old which gives it tremendous charm. The downstairs sitting rooms are epic. The highlight was the breakfast. All of the ingredients the chef used (eggs, chorizo, berries and honey) came from her farm locally. It was fantastic. Everyone working there was super friendly and helpful.
I was in a very nice room upstairs (The Garden Room). But, the whole upper area is essentially a converted attic. I am 6’3” so there was a fair bit of ducking. The room has no heating (I couldn’t figure out how to turn on the electric stove) or cooling (other than opening a window). Also, the WiFi signal was too weak to work up in the room.

Location was good.
It was disappointing. Rather than finding a charming old home turned into a B&B, we found an old run-down building in need of repair and refurbishing. In addition, we were early for breakfast, and even though it was ready, and the cook did not appear to be overly busy, she could not accommodate us by providing us with a plate of food that was, according to her, ready to be served. We just left.
