Beautiful remote rural setting

No place to set suitcases for access.

Clean and comfortable, off grid rain forest locale. Only 20 minutes from closest volcano view in the national park.

Chickens and dogs on neighboring properties did make some noise. Earplugs fixed that for sleeping. The gravel road was rough in a couple of places but nothing terrible.

I love living in a forest surrounded by white noise at night, got a incredibly high sleep quality. During the day, I absolutely enjoyed the privacy it offers. I especially love the shower, love the wood floor, feels like showing outside, it was amazing. The amenities are also great, has everything that I need. Even though the volcanWill definitely consider living here again next time when I am in big island.

This is a beautiful property about 20 minutes from the park. It is spacious, beautifully built and very comfortable- awesome front porch and cozy bed. The hosts were incredibly nice people, very easy to communicate with, and flexible with our crazy schedule, which we really appreciated! We cooked most of our food, and managed with the smaller refrigerator, which is common for off-grid homes. For folks who want to cook - - here is a bit more info. I rediscovered the joy of cooking with cast iron pans and a bit of oil- works well for toast, fried eggs and cooking in general! Just be prepared to cook without a microwave or toaster. We love the Fern Forest area because it retains much of the Island’s wild natural landscape, and the frogs lull one to sleep. We’ve stayed in lots of places near the volcano and this one is a favorite. Hope to be back again! Thank you Andrew & Agi!

Really no complaints. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Lodge- so relaxing. A few suggestions to augment the current kitchen would be the addition of a cooler to store drinks in and another saucepan with a lid.
