Elizabeth Oceanfront Suites, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Elizabeth Suites has always been a place I wanted to stay. It was definitely worth the wait! The pool and hot tub were so relaxing and fun, as was the outdoor fire pit. The high walls of glass at the fire pit made it comfortable to enjoy and be out of the wind. The nightly salmon chowder and cookies were a very welcome surprise! We were able to get just enough chowder to hold us until dinner time. So yummy! We stayed in room 130. We were concerned that we wouldn’t have the best view, being on the first floor, but we had to take an elevator up to the first floor and it turned out great! We had daily visitors of the avian variety and loved it! We had a double king suite which we shared with our two sons. They complained some about the firmness of their bed, but my husband and I slept GREAT!! It was great, at night, to turn off all the lights, crank the fireplace, leave the back door open for the sound of the waves crashing…all while watching a movie. Speaking of the television. We are frequent guests at the coast and we have never encountered a hotel that could stream from our devices. It was great to stream television shows and movies straight from our phones. The bathroom was clean and did what we needed it to do. Flushing the toilet was a bit of a jump scare with how loud and quickly it flushed, but it’s better than having to flush multiple times per trip. The shower pressure was amazing and the rain shower heads made you not want to get out. Very relaxing! I really liked that the parking was under the hotel. Since we had to walk through the garage to get to the pool and outdoor fire pits, it was actually nice to not have to put on any shoes since it was a very clean area, kept out of the elements. That’s not to say I frequently go shoeless in hotels, but it was convenient, nonetheless. Overall, we had a beautiful birthday and anniversary weekend. We will DEFINITELY be back, over and over again.

When researching hotels, we prefer to stay where there is breakfast included. And while Elizabeth Suites offers breakfast, it was far different than the pictures online portrays. The breakfast we were assuming it would be was hot eggs, sausage, bacon, waffles, etc. What we received was basically a cold continental breakfast. While there were waffles that could be warmed in the microwave, they were also full of raw sugar. They were VERY processed and gritty due to the raw sugar. It was definitely not the waffles we saw on the website. This was the only complaint we had.

Ocean views, friendly staff, comfortable bed, cookies in the evening, actual shampoo bottles vs wall mounted bottles that rarely work,

No good access to the beach from the hotel; elevators kept breaking down; breakfast was lacking; would prefer additional sheer window curtain that blocks bright sun without blocking out the entire light; tv service kept rebooting last night; a bit dated room with torn carpet
