Disappointing

We really enjoyed Instow as a location. Great base for exploring the area. Bus stops nearby for going to Appledore (catch the ferry back) or Barnstaple. Tarka trail on the doorstep, local bike hire company and highly recommend the cycle up to Puffing Billy cafe and beyond.

Sadly, multiple issues were disappointing and detracted from our holiday: Poor cleaning in the living area. Sofa plus blankets and cushions on it were very dirty; covered in dog (and some human) hair and general dirt and sand. We had to vacuum the whole sofa and bought a throw to sit on. Rugs badly stained. Crumbs on dining room seats. Major building work at property just opposite in the small lane. Disruptive noise and dust from 8am as they gutted the place, threw stuff out of upstairs windows and loaded a van parked just outside the lounge. Inconsistent / confusing info re check in/out times (listed on booking.com as 4 and 10, info from owner said 5 and 9) and bins (threatened with a £50 fee if you don't put them out but faded sheet on kitchen windowsill says Thu but highlights Wed). Outside area shabby including bird mess on the table and patio.

Exceptional

Have stayed at Teal cottage a number of times now and will continue to do so whenever possible. Please read my other reviews from previous stays as it says it all! Considering the circumstances at present, everything possible to make our stay as comfortable as usual was attended to.

Nothing!
