Everything was good!

AWESOME LOCATION! Mike and Lina were super friendly and nice and made very hospitable guests. We highly recommend anyone coming to Tanna should stay here. It had an amazing view of the Volcano from the room. The food was fresh and good. Good price.

It was such a different experience to anything else we did in Vanuatu and incredible that Mike and Lina built it but it is definitely for more adventurous travellers. You start with a couple of hours transfer in the tray of Ute (mostly protected from rain with a tarp) on wooden bench seats - this was a highlight for us as we waved to everyone and saw the island but we felt it the next day 😂 it felt like we saw the real Vanuatu of his many people lived rather than the resort version. Mike had to come out twice because our flight was delayed and then cancelled on the first day and was really good about this. The volcano was incredible although it is different each night so try to spend a couple of nights on Tanna if you can! Lina’s cooking was lovely and she was able to cook vegetarian for us.
Although the accomodation cost per night appears cheap when you add in tours and transfers it gets pricy - my friends and I paid about 67,000 VUV each for our accomodation, food, transfers and tours but we only got about half the experiences that were supposed to be part of our package because our flight in was cancelled and then moved back a day (plus the rain washed out the road to Port Resolution). This took it from pricey to easily the most expensive part of our holiday. To his credit Mike refunded us 5,000 VUV total (so about 1,667 each). I wouldn’t change what we did if I had my time again but I want other travellers to be aware. The water wasn’t working when we were there so we used buckets to flush the toilets, the lighting was a bit poor and one of the mozzie nets had some holes in it - I had packed a spare net, a head torch and hand sanitiser so this didn’t bother me but make sure you are prepared. Fortunately, one of my friends brought wet wipes that we could use instead of showers. I also brought water purification tablets to be on the safe side.

Nice views of the volcano and meals were quite good (excluding the included breakfast)
Arrived with another person in the afternoon. Owner wasn’t around and no one knew who was supposed to be in what room (bungalow va treehouse). After breakfast the next day, owner still wasn’t around and I didn’t catch him until a few hours later. We had no water for 3 days, as we were told the pipe had gotten clogged from a heavy rainfall. I understand things happen, but at least prepare some water near the toilets so they can be flushed. The only water was stored in a barrel up a hill. Linens were musty, tree house needs some repairs, branches from tree partially blocking view of volcano that could easily be cut. You need to bring snacks and drinking water with you as nothing is available and no stores around. Needs more comfortable places to sit down and relax. Very limited electricity to charge devices, you should bring a power pack. Breakfast is bread, spreads, fruit and coffee although there was no coffee one morning. I found this property to have a much higher rating than it deserved and was disappointed.
