Hotel City Palazzo Dei Cardinali

The breakfast was nice, staff was very friendly, there are free tours offered (however we haven't tried them). We came to the hotel for our anniversary and the room was prepared for us with the balloons and a sweet gift, that was super cute. Thank you. If you stay there, make sure you visit Rinascente shop just across the street, to see the original Roman aqueduct- in the -1 floor

In our room there were issues with the bathroom. One tap was leaking, it took 2 or 3 attempts to fix it and at the end of the day it was still leaking. Seems like the screw was loose and after some minutes it was sort of unscrewing - opening the tap. Also sometimes (not always though) there was ai issue with the pressure of hot water in the shower, once it was almost impossible to shower as it was so low. Not sure if that had anything to do with the tap issue. One more thing, the room we stayed in was in close proximity to the reception and because of the acoustics of the building I guess, the phonecalls of the persons at the reception desk could be heard very loudly at the room, especially at night and at 5AM. Also, one day the bread at the breakfast was very stale, but other things were very delicious.

Location was excellent, equidistant between Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain with lots of shops and restaurants around. Lovely friendly helpful staff at reception and wonderful fresh hot/cold breakfast to fuel us up for the day. Really comfy bed with two types of pillow and useful aircon and window shutters.

Tiny lift (though full of character) and room, despite upgrade, furnished a little bit basic but excellent bathroom.

The AC did not work. When we told them about it they just said yes it’s so hot in Rome and the room has 2 levels so it’s not as strong.
