The Lapis Hotel

This was the best hotel we stayed in throughout our trip to Vietnam. The staff in all areas of the hotel are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and the food in the restaurant is very good. Following check out they were so helpful in allowing us to store our luggage and even return later if we wished to use the leisure & shower facilities before we departed on an overnight train. It is a fantastic location, only 1km from lake Hoan Kiem and the Old Quarter. I would highly recommend the Lapis Hotel if visiting Hanoi. Thank you for a lovely visit.

We booked the suite as a treat for us. The room had everything we could need during our stay. Bedding was changed daily and water left each day. Tea and coffee throughout. The room offered spacious accommodation for us and our teenager so we all had the space we needed. The pool jacuzzi and steam/ sauna rooms were a welcome respite from the bustle and noise of the old town. The gym was favoured by our teenager although it was basic. We had welcome drinks on arrival and a fruit platter brought to our room once we had settled in. It was my husbands whilst we were there and reception picked this up themselves when taking our passport details and organised a lovely gift during breakfast that morning. It made his day very special.

The Luke warm jacuzzi but guess people use it more to cool down given the outside heat.

Helpful staff and lovely room - given an upgrade to a deluxe room which was lovely. Rooftop pool was super.

The rooms were nicely furnished and the hotel nicely decorated. Beds were comfortable and a good shower. Nice to have a pool area and gym.

We arrived after a long bus journey, quite late at night and there were no niceties, just straight to asking us to pay before we had put our bags down (we paid upon checkout everywhere else we have stayed in Vietnam). But we thought that’s fair enough, they do things differently. What we didn’t appreciate is when returning to the hotel one day after shopping, we were basically chased after to the elevator and asked what our room number was. We didn’t see anyone else get asked this. Ultimately, we felt like we didn’t fit the ‘business image’ of the people who usually stay at this hotel and so we were not made to feel overly welcome. Upon checkout, there were no niceties again and we were not even asked how our stay was, just straight away asked to sign the bill. The hotel was clean and nicely decorated but it lacked any sort of personal touch (which is ironic as it says this on their logo). We have stayed at many other hotels in Vietnam, where the staff made us feel appreciated and unfortunately we didn’t get this here. Disappointing considering it is one of the more expensive options.
