Hacienda Don Vicente Bungalows

It’s a nice Hacienda style accommodation with a swimming pool. The pool isn’t as large as it appears on the photos, but it has a nice temperature and it was reacting to use. It’s also open until relatively late at night. The Bungalows are some of the most modern and comfortable ones you will find in Tarapoto. The staff are reserved but friendly and helpful enough.

It’s a little bit in the middle of nowhere. It’s more like a Mexican or Spanish Hacienda rather than a proper Amazon lodge so you don’t feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle like with some of the better locations of the lodges. It doesn’t really give you the immersive jungle feelthat some of the other lodges promise. You also have to know your way around to get your Moto taxi sorted out and it’s not something the hotel helps with all that much at least while they can help with it you have to ask and insist a bit, which is a shame because you can’t get anywhere on foot from there. So while it’s nicely kept accommodation it’s nice to relax if you don’t a 10 min ride to Tarapoto every time. The food, why we did not have meals, look to be really good. The restaurant is relatively expensive, but seems to be worth it. And for breakfast, there isn’t much of a choice and we had to insist to be exceptionally given some eggs for my wife who does not eat meat. They should ask what you want for breakfast or at least if you eat meat or not, you know it’s a very nice accommodation. You just have to know what it is before you go there.
