Cottage With Views Over the Peak Forest Canal and Kinder Scout.
The Hay Barn è situato sul canale Upper Peak Forest a New Mills Marina ai piedi del distretto di High Peak. La proprietà è stata recentemente restaurata con cura mantenendo la sua ricca storia e le caratteristiche del periodo. The Hay Barn ha un letto matrimoniale in una camera da letto su un soppalco che offre una vista eccellente sul canale Upper Peak Forest, Kinder Scout e sulle colline circostanti. Il piano inferiore comprende una sala da pranzo e salotto, una cucina completamente attrezzata e completamente attrezzata, bagno e doccia. C'è un divano letto occasionale in pelle di buona qualità al piano inferiore dove quattro persone desiderano soggiornare. La proprietà è ideale per passeggiate in collina, in particolare Kinder Scout e sulle colline circostanti. L'alzaia del canale offre una camminata meno impegnativa e piatta verso il ponte di Whaley e il bacino di Buxworth in una direzione e Disley, Marple e oltre nella direzione opposta. L'alzaia è l'ideale per il ciclismo e il Monsal Trail a 8. 5 miglia di pista ciclabile senza traffico è a breve distanza.
La proprietà è vicina a ottimi collegamenti di trasporto. Un servizio di autobus affidabile collega New Mills con villaggi locali come Buxton, Bakewell, Glossop e Chapel - en - le - Frith, mentre i servizi ferroviari collegano Manchester e Stockport.

Small but cosy, everything was catered for, just could have done with some hanging space for clothes. Pubs near by and a lovely walk along the canal. Friendly greeting on arrival.

The location was perfect for exploring. We were on canal boat property. We could walk the towpath to a brand new Tesco superstore. The train was a five-minute walk. Manchester was 30 minutes by train. We were within a half hours drive of some of the best hikes in the high peaks. Whenever we go to the UK we make sure our National Trust membership is up to date but we found the hiking so exhilarating that we only visited one national trust property during our two-week stay. The cottage was cozy, good bath with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Water from the tap was cool and good tasting. Stairs to the bedroom are a bit steep but a good sturdy handrail. The place could use a place to hang clothes and better reading lights as the living area has only one window. We never once turned on the television.

We stayed at the New Barn and we loved every minute. Very welcoming, quiet, relaxing and dog friendly. There is a BBQ area which we used on both nights. If you are looking for a private area just for your family, then this wouldn’t be the best choice as the bbq area is for everyone but we were lucky that we had the area to ourselves. The views are amazing and my 3 year old daughter enjoyed walking and there’s a park, pubs, chippy and local shop nearby. Lyme Park is about 8 minutes away and we went there one day. The barn was spotless and tea, coffee, sugar, biscuits and milk were provided which was a lovely touch. Would definitely return! Thanks for an amazing weekend

This is a lovely compact cottage on the canal side. All the facilities in the cottage are as described, the shower was particularly powerful with masses of hot water. The reason for the reduced star rating is that nowhere on the details does it state that the cottage is part of a small caravan park. The shower and toilet blocks are attached to the cottage. On two of our 4 nights there were five caravans in situ - the maximum allowed meaning that there was a van parked broadside to the cottage a cars length away, giving us and them little or no privacy. There are no blinds on two of the windows, an issue in the bedroom trying to sleep with an uncovered window and with none in the kitchen we could not have any privacy in the open plan living area. The onsite manager was helpful with information, fire wood etc. but could do nothing about the caravan parking or the intrusion of the caravan owners into the private area beside the cottage
front door. Would I recommend to a friend, probably but only if they were aware of the possibility of losing the view and the closeness of the vans. Also be aware, although you are on the canal side, the tow path is on the other side of the canal, out of the marina, along a fairly busy road and then a path through housing to the tow path, beautiful walks in both directions once you get there.
