The villa was beautiful, even more spacious than expected. The outside was quintessential Tuscany, serene and breathtaking. Luigi was one of the most responsive and gracious hosts we have encountered. He always responded quickly and when asked questions beyond his scope he would seek the answers. He invited us to dine at his family’s restaurant, which was the best meal we had during our time visiting the region. It was so great we dined there again on our last night. We had an amazing time in Tuscany and it was amplified by the home, Luigi and La Toppa!!!

A lovely house in a beautiful area of Tuscany. The owners have a restaurant in San Donato, La Toppa, which is wonderful.

The host family were very gracious and their restaurant amazing but the house had problems. One entry door would not lock, the host's son just shrugged. The house was clean but bugs getting in was a problem as doors didnt close flush. The web info needs to be changed. There was supposed to be a tub and a tv. No tv and they had redone the bathroom, picture that showed a tub turned into a shower. The check in and out were not as easy as you had to go to their restaurant where parking is tough instead of meeting at the house and the host had to come to the house at checkout so he could charge us for all the KW we used.All said, fix the webpage info for other renters and the house is fine.

Villa is beautiful and in a lovely, private setting. Furniture is typical rental mish-mash; mattresses are firm. WIFI was functional only two of the seven days. If you plan to cook a lot like we did, the kitchen was barely adequate. Coffee maker was old and there isn't a lot of counter space. No pantry to stuff your groceries. In the heat of the summer, with no screens, no A/C and only one portable fan, expect lots of biting bugs because you have to open up the doors and windows to cool down the house to sleep. (The villa is surrounded by trees, so one should expect bugs; scorpions, cicadas- there are ants galore outside.) Also I found it annoying to charge separately (in cash) for electricity - just include it in the weekly rate. Expect a dirt /gravel road near the villa. You have to empty the garbage at community cans down the dirt/gravel road. Pool was great - not heated - but in the heat of summer, no heat needed. At minimum in a rental I would expect at least some garbage bags, dish soap (there was a some dish soap when we arrived), hand soap and a clean scrubber, which there weren't. We left a bunch of garbage bags in the villa for future renters. There was not a garbage can in the kitchen. Nice to have a clothes washer (detergent not provided.) It would be a nice extra touch if the owners provided info about the surrounding area, info about the town, things to do nearby, nearby markets, etc. Owners come to clean the pool and water flowers during the stay...nice people.
