Hotel Il Faro

The room was large and spacious, featuring a generous terrace with a beautiful sea view. The bed was very comfortable, and the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. We arrived on an early train and had no problem leaving our luggage at reception while the room was being prepared, which allowed us to start exploring Sorrento right away.

I think the hotel, or at least the room we stayed in, may have had a mold issue, as there was a strong musty smell that didn't go away even with the balcony door open. It made sleeping quite uncomfortable. The rooftop pool was much smaller than expected and for us too cold to use. The breakfast was average with limited options.

Location is not great unless you are going to Sorrento just to catch a boat which is in front of the hotel. To visit the city you need to catch the paid lift, or a bus, or walk all the stairs up. Very small room. Mold in the shower. Also there are stairs to the hotel and no staff to help you with the luggage. Breakfast is not great - no fresh juice, coffee from the machine is surprisingly bad.

Perfect to get access to port, beach, shuttle bus runs frequently up and down €2 each. Pizzeria outside. Beach close and can have evening cocktails and dinner on beach too. Lift up to town too for about €2 each. Nice sea view. Little rooftop pool with bar and sun-beds, towels free to hire. After 6pm bar is for drinks only. Breakfast is indoors, nice selection. Fridge in room. Used port (3 mins walk) for ferries to other islands. Used shuttle and lift to get up town level. Right in centre. Used station (10 mins walk) to get to Pompeii. Mt Vesuvius visible from hotel.

It was close to the port and the beaches but far walk from the city center

Too many steps up to the city center, the beds were hard as rocks, the bathroom smelled like pee and humidity.
