Our hosts were so sweet and helpful - Ms. Eder picked us up by car from Berchtesgaden so we didn't have to take the bus with all our luggage in the rain and she also dropped us off at the station on our last day. She even offered to let us stay an extra night because we had been a bit unlucky with the weather during the week!! From our breakfast niche, we had an amazing view over a field and mountain panorama where we could observe deer whilst drinking our coffee! Kitchen was perfectly equipped, everything very clean and inviting, especially the rocking chair in the reading nook... :-) Some hiking trails started basically 200 yds down the road. Overall, the accommodation was lovely and so quiet, I slept like a princess!

Definitely not the hosts' fault, but in the off-season (otherwise a great idea if you want to avoid the summer rush of the masses), local buses (free with your tourist card, also a plus) run very infrequently, so if you want to visit places outside Schönau without a car (for instance Almbachklamm, Wimbachklamm or Zauberwald/Hintersee in Ramsau, all highly recommended!), you need to get your timing straight and may have to cut a visit short to catch the last bus back (often annoyingly early...). We also had a lot of rain during our stay, so rainproof hiking gear (including trousers!) seems like useful advice :-)

A nicely furnished apartment with beautiful views of the mountains from every window. Kitchen very well equipped. Spacious, clean and comfortable rooms. There are also walks from the door. Would definitely return.
