Relais & Châteaux Bülow Palais

Really nice and clean.

Staff is poorly trained. Repeated issues with responsiveness, understanding, and lack of professional skills.

Luxury hotel, not too big, in a peaceful surrounding. Large and clean room. Smiling and welcoming staff at reception and restaurant. Buffet breakfast sophisticated with some different choices every morning and table service for warm dishes and coffee. 15-20 minute walk to city center. Many restaurants around the hotel (greek, asian, italian), among them a great spanish one where we can eat in the park in front of the hotel. Parking in the streets cheaper and convenient with Easy Park app. Bikes and umbrellas provided. Reception provides coins to change euro bills.

Only 2 pillows which are much too soft. We didn’t ask to change, it might have been possible. Only one small sample of shampoo and of body gel, with no refill the next morning since they weren’t empty. Limited coffee pods provided in the room. A bit surprising for a Relais & Château, but altogether, minor flaws

We went to an event at the Filmnächte am Elbufer, which is a very convenient walk from the hotel. It was a perfect place to relax in between sightseeing and a wonderful hotel to sleep at night. The location was just a 7-minute walk from the Dresden-Neustadt train station. Nice high-end shops and restaurants nearby. And lovely helpful staff.

Friendly and accommodating front desk staff. Nicely appointed small single room with bath (as I’d booked). Perfect location for me, 7 minute walk to Dresden Neustadt station and 15 minutes walk to the center. Neustadt feels like an area where locals live, quite a few restaurants and services but no tourist shops.

My first night the hotel was evacuated at 2:30 am due to a “technical fault” in the alarm system (so said the automated announcement). After spending close to an hour in a park and then the lobby, we were allowed to return to our rooms. 30-45 minutes later the alarm rang again - fortunately there apparently never was a fire. What bothered me was that this incident was never acknowledged by hotel management, leaving guests wondering they knew or cared or thought the malfunction of their equipment is just normal operation. Especially for a Relais & Chateaux property, which claims comfort and service as a hallmark, this was disappointing.
