Grand Luley Manado

We liked the staff, so friendly and always smiling and ready and happy to help. The room was spacious, the bed was big and comfortable, bathroom was big, shower cubical was spacious. Balcony was nice overlooking the pool. Nice lobby. Board walk to the sea was nice,but the boards were a bit wobbly with bolt heads sticking up (take care if wearing flip flops or kids that like to run ahead.

So, the awkward bit! The pool was nice, the surrounds not so good, not even safe really, an accident waiting to happen,( see photos) holes, broken slabs, sharp slabs,trip hazards everywhere. I know it's not Europe but even so, should be safe. We were in Bunakan wing,3rd floor, no lift by the way, but not a problem we are fit 75 year old. As you walk round from the lobby and up the slope the smell that greets you makes you urge, not an exaggeration, you are level with the kitchen and restaurant, below which must be food waste storage, which obviously dosnt get emptied very frequently. Reminded me of land fill rotting food waste. On two nights we had to move tables in the restaurant because the smell was coming in from outside through a louvered window, not pleasant. Sorry to have to print this but people thinking of staying there should be aware.

Room and premises were not very clean. Corridors were dirty, Staff not well trained - I was woken up at 11.45 pm by a phone call from the reception regarding water that I had asked for at 8 pm!!
