I loved the room, I felt like a Princess with a beautiful private terrace. The staff was amazing, I can't thank them enough. I would definitely recommend it to anyone for a traditional Moroccan vibe. I will be back next year Xxxx

This is a beautiful and traditional hotel superbly situated to explore the colourful and exciting maze of alleys and streets in the Medina. The rooms are lovely. We were lucky to have a couple of nights in the Royal Suite and truly felt like royalty. We also had two comfortable nights in the double room with its lovely patios. Yes, plural! All the rooms that we saw have high ceilings, gorgeous tiles, plaster friezes, carved wood and sumptuous furniture. It is incredibly
comfortable and so authentic that you
pinch yourself to believe you are there.
The generous breakfast is included and is delicious.Best of all, the staff are all warm hearted and kind. Our special thanks to Soumia who is like the fairy godmother in this place, quietly and capably doing everything possible to ensure guests are content. Seriously, don’t miss out on staying here. It is amazing and will be a highlight of your stay in exotic Marrakech.

Fantastic stay at Riad Dar Essalam in the Royal Suite. Exceeded all expectations. Excellent Staff who looked after us and a special thanks to Soumia who went over and above to help us make the most of our stay in Marrakech. Great location and would highly recommend an evening in the famous restuarant.

The hospitality here is out of this world! Our host Soumia assisted us from reservations to even gifting us some of the mint that is used in our morning breakfasts. I have not experienced such kindness from any host anywhere else!
The beds were a bit firm, but I feel that is a preference for each person.

Great location with extraordinary accomodation. Thanks to Mrs. Soumia we received many useful tips and information.
Breakfast could be at a higher level.

The riad was absolutely stunning - the equivalent of staying in a stately home in the UK.
I would have liked a healthier breakfast

Honestly, this property was the highlight of our stay in Morocco. We reserved a room for a family of four and received the whole floor - Master bedroom/second bedroom/living room/two bathrooms. All beautifully/originally appointed. The food in the restaurant and the staff were great. The fact that a scene from a Hitchcock movie was filmed there is a huge added bonus - at least for us. If we come back to Marrakech, we will be staying there again.
I would recommend this place to everyone.
Everything was great - our only regret is that we did not stay longer.

A full breakfast with unlimited coffee and incredible foods and selections, vegetarian friendly which was a huge bonus, staff was kind and helpful beyond belief with late night service, great suggestions on nearby activities complete with directions shown on the map, and they even helped us to carry our bags to a taxi upon departure! The hotel room was clean, well kept, with extra pillows a mini fridge and even an air conditioner!
Nothing could have been better, exceeded expectations especially for the price!

Firstly, I have to preface everything I say with the fact that this is my first vacation in 5 years and my first trip to Morocco and Africa in general. If there are any things I may find lacking, it could be my lack of understanding of the local culture and should not be taken as gospel
So first the good:
Riad Dar Essalam is a gorgeous venue hidden along on of the main roads leading up to Jemaa el-Fnaa by way of a 10-15 minute walk. Its a lively location, people looking for a quiet place to lay their heads may not be able to find it here in the Old Medina, between the hustle and bustle of the street just outside the Riad, the daily calls to Prayer annouced all throughout the city and other sounds that characterize Marrakesh. The noise is part of the charm of the location in my opinion but I can imagine it might not be for everyone.
The building is decorated as advertised in the reviews seen here, and it the location has a lot of historical weight to it. I was staying in Room Scheherazade which was the room on the top floor of a three storey Riad, leading out a balcony. The room was clean and comfortable and more than enough room for a single or couple. There are some features that I would have liked such as an Electric Kettle if I wanted to make coffee or tea on my own, but aside from that, the room was more than adequate.
The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, in particular I got a lot of help from Mdm.Soumia from the reception who guided me on some of the major sights near the Riad. When I had problems understanding how to turn on hot water in my shower, she came up to assist. She also helped me organize a 3-day tour to the Atlas Mountains and Sahara desert on short notice when I was hesitant to approach any of the tour offices all throughout the Souk and that tour was far better than what I expected and I really appreciate her for helping me on this. Mr.Kamal, who I saw every other morning made sure I was well-fed at breakfast.
Before I checked out to the Riad, I did mention to the staff that the Wifi in my room was poor in certain locations, and non-existant in most. Hopefully they can get this settled.
Breakfast while extremely filling is more of a sweet affair with pastries, pancakes and so forth but could use some more savoury dishes like sausages though eggs were prepared by Mr.Kamal on request

An interesting place in the old town. Very atmospheric, well equipped spaces.
The breakfast was rich and tasty. It's very closed to the main plaza and all medinas.
It was quite noisy in the night - there is a bar at the terrace next to the hotel and You can hear the
loud music up till 1.00 AM.

Location, right in the heart of the medina and a 5 minute walk to the square. The staff are amazing and so helpful. The riad is so beautiful in all the very small Morrocco tiles. The dinner and entertainment night is exceptional and a must to go if you want delicious food and a fun night. The rooms have nice furniture and comfortable beds.
Nothing, don't hesitate to book.

Amazing location, breakfast and staff
The only negative feedback is for the hot water that it is not enough. If you use the bathtub, you will most likely be out of hot water and you need to wait at least 2/3 hours to have it back

really fancy, beautiful, traditional riad. Very spacious room with a big interior yard. They offered fresh fruits and moroccan deserts.
the breakfast need improve, and at least add eggs for breakfast.

Wonderful original Riad that roots back to the 17th century with beautifully mosaicked rooms. Very comfortable and clean rooms and delicious breakfast. Family driven, with courteous and helpful employees. The location of the Riad is very good – it is in the centre of Marrakech, but easy to reach with a short walk of about 200 m from the Place des Ferblantiers, which can be easily reached by taxi or car. Overall, our expectations have been overachieved (which was not the case elsewhere during our trip in Morocco). Also, the associated restaurant “Dar Essalam” is outstanding and an original experience. Next time we visit Marrakech, we will return to this Riad.

The staff is amazing and gave us some insights of the culture and the city. They were always very helpful and friendly, made the stay worth it. The riad is very central and 8min walk to the plaza, and the street is very cultural as well.

I loved my stay at Dar Essalam! The team is super nice and helpful, the bed was super comfy, the breakfast had a lot of options and was delicious! The riad is located inside one of the oldest restaurants in Marrakech and I highly recommend going there for dinner at least once.
The wifi was a bit weak. Except that, everything was perfect!

The staff is top rate, very friendly, fun, and made us feel like family from the beginning. Unfortunately we were unable to say goodbye to all of them! As a former palace, the riad itself is gorgeous, very good and entertaining restaurant but can also make use of the terrace up top or a private dining room on the ground floor. Comfortable, lavish rooms with a split heating/cooling unit, greatly appreciated. Our view looked out toward the mosque, and the call to prayers from its minaret each morning was exotic and something out of a dream to our western perspective...
A pot of morning coffee! Apparently not a 'thing' here, which can be a challenge to arrange if you're an early riser. We made it work but it was handled a bit differently from day to day (very good coffee, though).

The old part of the city is quite compact. Although the map shows the property is some distance from the main square it is in fact only a short stroll. Lovely architecture and a very quiet rooftop terrace for spending lazy evenings.
The stairs leading to the bedrooms are quite steep. Fine if you are fit but could be a problem for some.
