We stayed at Gunkakutei for two nights and absolutely loved our stay. We loved everything about this place, especially that they have preserved its old and traditional features. The room was spacious, clean, the futons were comfortable! The hosts were incredibly kind, warm and hospitable. Even when we ended up coming back quite late one evening, they still came out to greet us so warmly, which we really appreciated. They also have the cutest dog, which was such a lovely bonus. The breakfast was healthy, delicious and beautifully prepared. Everything felt thoughtful and genuine, and we truly enjoyed our time here. We would definitely love to stay here again and highly recommend Gunkakutei.

Nothing at all

Whilst the ryokan itself was lovely, the owners go above and beyond. Really. During my stay, I had a medical emergency that meant calling the ambulance and going to hospital. Not only did they call the ambulance for me, but came with me in the ambulance and stayed THE ENTIRE TIME until I was put into a room for the night. They even collected my belongings and dropped them off. I cannot tell you how incredible, how kind, and how amazing the owners are. There are no words to describe the care I received, and the warmth I was shown. Everything was so thoughtful, and really, truly, I am grateful beyond what I can say. I would - and plan to - stay at Gunkakutei again in the future, especially after everything that was done for me. Truly!
