Original Douro Hotel

Our second visit to this unique hotel and it was lovely to see it has is continued to be loved and cared for. I communicated with Nelson a few times before our arrival date and he was super attentive and so helpful. A true asset to the team. Room 106 is very large and a balcony to watch the trains. Very comfy and huge bathroom too. Our first evening we decided to have wine & cheese at the hotel. Lovingly prepared and a great way to relax into our mini break. Breakfast excellent - lots of choice and perfect to our taste. Lovely friendly staff too. Location just a short walk to & from the the train station and lots of restaurants and cafes within easy reach. Can not recommend this hotel highly enough and hope to get back there again soon.

Excellent staff and facilities

Nothing to dislike

At the center of the city, walking distance from everything. A huge room in a newly renovated hotel with an excellent breakfast and really helpful and wonderful staff members that really wanted our stay to be a memorable one.

The hotel construction itself is a vintage wonder and the way they have captured the transformation as a storytelling is mind blowing. We loved it!

Hotel kitchen staffs were not very welcoming to people outside from Europe. We have stayed in many different hotels in multiple countries all over the world and that is very common in Europe; however I didn’t expect it in a tourist friendly country like Portugal!
