Hotel Castillo de Gauzón

Very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was excellent. It is well located with the beach 10 mins walk, Salinas train station, which is basically a platform with a bus shelter, is 200m behind the hotel and a couple of supermarkets within 5 minutes walk.

It wasn’t too hot when we stayed but I did note that there wasn’t air conditioning in the room.

The room was gorgeous - beautiful woodwork, classy windows. The breakfast was very good.

The hotel is on a very busy street and it was very loud with the windows open. But hard to keep the windows closed because it was warm. Also, when we arrived the proprietor was an elderly lady who was not interested in helping us at all. We had bicycles delivered to the hotel that were supposed to have arrived before we got there. But the woman told us there was no bike delivery and they weren’t there. Finally after much back and forth with the help of a visitor, she admitted it was in a storage locker but did not want to give us the keys until we wanted to ride the bikes. But we needed to retrieve the panniers and make sure that the bikes were ok as we were heading off on a six day bike trip. This lack of willingness to help created quite a lot of stress for us.

Breakfast was excellent, staff very friendly and helpful, thoroughly enjoyed my week stay here. Location was very handy as near supermarket and near to beach and near to major road routes.

If the weather gets extremely warm would need some sort of air conditioning facility.
