From choosing a house (good descriptions online) to making the booking to enjoying our stay, everything was so easy and pleasant. As described, Hidden Hollow was an easy walk to Main Street but also wonderfully secluded and quiet. Comfortable, cozy and fun. We’ve already booked our next stay.

Cannot recommend due to:1. Air quality.2. Humidity inside.3. Bugs inside.4. Trash outside.5. Poor drainage of driveway.6. Poor condition of dishes & kitchen equipment.7. Tiny TV, inadequate service.There is a heavy musty/moldy odor when you enter the house. It is very damp inside, and the dehumidifier never stops running. Within a few hours we had runny noses,coughs,and itching, burning eyes. Good location, and it could be very nice, but not well-maintained or appointed. The dishes had chips and chunks out of them, and the coffee cups got dangerously hot in the microwave. This was our second year in this property, and not one thing was improved, added or changed. For example, the kitchen sink sprayer was broken and wouldn't sit in its hole. The pots and pans were very old and in poor condition. When it rained, we had to wade through water up to our ankles to get in the door. There was contractor debris outside. The management company was great; we wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

Very heavy, bad mold smell, had to run a manual dehumidifier 24/7 in attempt to dry out home. Very, very dark without all lights on in daytime, open hole in wall of master closet to wet crawl space (3X2 feet) in master bedroom, fire hazzard light fixture in master closet (burned fixture and ancient cloth wiring.. unable to be repaired by rental company). When it rained heavily, the street which drains toward house, flooded up to steps about 6 plus inches deep and you had to wait for it to recede before leaving or returning. I cleaned the place for 2 of the three weeks. The good news is I left the home much better than I found it.

The location was good but there is a gravel driveway out of the small area that is probably 100 yards long and is hard to walk on - especially women with sandals. House was pretty clean but smells musty, I assume because of the stream nearby. Need to replace the bath wash cloths as they are stained. Shower was great in the master. Bed in master is comfortable. Very small TV in the family room. Hard to see.s

THE CABIN IS EXCELLENTLY WELL LOCATED. YOU CAN NOT BELIEVE HOW CLOSE YOU ARE TO THE SHOPS AND RESTAURANTS. EVERYTHING IN THE CABIN WAS FINE ALTHOUGH I WOULD HAVE LIKED BETTER TV SCREEN AND BETTER INTERNET.

The cottage design, both exterior and interior are just what we enjoy when vacationing in the mountains. The 5-minute walk to town location is perfect too!

All that said, the property needs better housekeeping and maintenance. The BBQ unit is filthy. Several areas of interior need better cleaning. Initially, the washer and dryer were not suitably maintained. To be fair, Chambers Realty somewhat improved the performance, The BBQ and washer and dryer need to be replaced. We enjoyed our stay and the home truly was a walk to town. We had a little issue with flys, however, the rental agency was very quick to respond once notified. There were a few other minor repairs needed of which I'm sure will be done in a timely manner. All in all it was a nice home convenient to all amenities.

This spot is tucked away down a gravel drive. It was fantastic and suited our needs perfectly. Walkable to everything so convenient as well. Hope to return next year.

However, the tiny one lane washed out gravel road leading to it is almost impassable by SUV ! It would for sure tear up a car and / or break an ankle trying to walk it. But the worst part of the home, is the whole structure is so un level the doors won’t even shut properly . The house is leaning towards the creek so bad , The sliding door in the master bedroom had a 2 inch gapping hole that caused the house to be full of huge black flies . We killed itleast 50 during our 2 night stay . Also the closet in the master had a huge hole unfinished hole in the wall crammed full of messy junk . In addition, there is obvious live termite destruction right in the front of the house , next to the entrance . The house needs lots of serious immediate attention !

We came with another family from Houston and had a great time! The big open floor plan was great for cooking and we enjoyed the warm fireplace. The downstairs jacuzzi tub was a great end to hiking. We enjoyed being close to everything and walking around the town!

Filthy and full of bugs! 1" of dust on everything and BIG jumping camel crickets all over the place
I rented this cottage in the Highlands, NC for my mother, sisters and other relatives to stay during the weekend of my sons wedding. The pictures looked charming and inviting, but when we arrived the bathrooms were full of big camel crickets - the ones that seek out water. My brother-in-law had to go around and kill them all. During the entire weekend, every time someone used the bathrooms they would jump all over and scare you to death. My mother refused to use the bathrooms after she was scared the second time. The entire cottage hadn't been cleaned and there was an inch of dust on everything and the linens were not as clean as they should have been. I was embarrassed and mortified that I rented such a poorly kept place for my family. It was such a traumatic experience for my sister, she texted all of our family with pictures etc. Discussing!!!

We had a fantastic time at hidden hollow! The photos don't do the hoise justice. It's a great, cozy spot. We will definitely be back! Just a short walk into town.
