A truly special and memorable stay at Stockman Lodge! This was our first station lodge experience, and it was the perfect peaceful getaway in the Flinders Ranges. We spent a few slow, restful days taking in incredible sunsets, stargazing at the Milky Way, and catching early morning sunrises. The spring bloom of blue-purple Salvation Jane flowers across the rugged hills made the scenery even more romantic. If you love quiet surroundings and reconnecting with nature, this is the place to be. Thank you to the team for a wonderful stay!

It's a working Outback station, so plan on dirt track roads and flying dust when there's been no wet weather. The long drive from the main road in the winter and spring months has creeks crossing the dirt track, but the property owners do a good job of maintaining it. The night skies are filled with stars. Internet service is available at the camp kitchen and reception buildings. Bring your own food and follow the rules about water usage. The basics are provided. EVERYONE needs to drive at 10 kilometers an hour around the various accommodation sites. It's posted at the entry, but more signs are needed to remind people. In order to see the remote areas of the property, one needs a four wheel drive vehicle.

The vehicle dust blowing over from inconsiderate drivers is irksome. Even the employees raise dust and do no follow the 10 kilometer limit rule.

We self catered but the kitchen facilities were quite adequate and the provision of a BBQ was most welcome. The cottage was an adequate size for our 2 day stay and was ideally located for exploring the Flinders Ranges. The station was open for exploration to all guests and the staff were most helpful. The ambience was very relaxing, especially after a day's exploration of the Ranges.

Would have like a bit of warning that entry was via 17 creek crossings, some of which were quite tricky for our AWD car. A 2-wheel drive vehicle might have found it a bit difficult to get to the property - admittedly, this was after an unusually heavy rain event in the Flinders. In the normal dry conditions, the access road, though rough, would not be a problem.
