the terrace with a view over the port and sea!

This is superb: probably unique as a holiday rental on the more quiet of the two lovely quaysides in this charming fishing port with a seaside and beach resort attached. A family owned property (for three generations), the owner made us very welcome and, with minimum of fuss, introduced us the house. It is simply but very comfortably furnished, the rear courtyard is completely private, the upstairs terrace has fabulous views over the canal and quaysides. Parking in a private parking lot nearby is very useful. We loved, too, the mirrored glass in the bedroom window whereby you can look out at the view while passers-by adjust their hats or make-up unaware that they are being watched. Great fun! Freshly landed fish can be bought 30 seconds away from the quayside stall Tuesdays to Saturdays, and there are loads of restaurants and good food shopping in town.

Just a request to make it clear on the profile whether there is heating in winter - we would love to return at a quieter time, but there only appeared to be heating in the twin bedded room.

This is a super unique location, right on the quay overlooking Le Grau-Du-Roi's picturesque waterway. The fishing boats are right outside the window (and some can be chartered)! You're less than a minute's walk to the beaches. There are MANY restaurants to suit all tastes in the immediate area. Everyone we ran into was friendly, putting up with our feeble attempts at French and more than happy to tryout their English. We were welcomed and made to feel at home by the proprietors. The home is large: there is plenty of room to move around. We had everything we needed. We all agreed that the beds were comfortable (although we did not use the fold-out sofa). One highlight was our morning ritual of drinking coffee on the very sunny patio. Another highlight: an afternoon trip to nearby Aigues-Mortes and a walk around its medieval ramparts. Looking for an ambitious day trip? We took one to Carcassonne (of boardgame fame), less than 2 hours to the west.
